ABOUT CBT
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a practical, short-term form of psychotherapy. It helps people to develop skills and strategies for overcoming and moving past psychological challenges. The American Psychological Association, The Lancet, Johns Hopkins and many other institutions of medical research have recognized it as the most effective form of psychotherapy available today.
CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thought patterns so that you can rewire your mind to view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. It helps people to examine how they make sense of what is happening around them and how these perceptions affect the way they feel.
North York CBT's lead therapist, Jonathan Jaffit, has over a decade of experience helping people deal with their mental struggles. He earned his Hons B.Sc. in human biology from the University of Toronto and went on to complete an MA in humanities at York University before becoming certified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
As a university chaplain, Jonathan has worked with hundreds of students to guide them through a stressful, transitional period in their lives and empowered them to redefine themselves as they enter a challenging new phase of life. Jonathan also proudly serves in the Canadian Armed Forces as a chaplain in an infantry unit. He supports soldiers through their deepest and darkest struggles and helps them to overcome their challenges.
